O Carteiro e o Poeta (Il Postino/The Postman)

The beautiful Italian movie "The Postman Poet and portrays the friendship between the charismatic Mario, a simple man and the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda who is exiled in a region where the seashore live the postman. I think one of the strengths of the story is when Mario asks Neruda: How to be a poet? How is poetry? Poetry is an art, perhaps the simplest and most accessible of them, because anyone can do. After watching this beautiful film came to the conclusion that there is no single answer to these questions. In the dialogue between characters that is discussed. Something fundamental is the observation, open your heart and undressing of prejudice, be allowed to see everyone and everything so real, it happens when inspiration is inevitable. You must also know the object of his inspiration, you can not invent something from nothing. In a poem more important than the intent is the rhythm, because it is publicly owned, when the poet writes not think of how many people get touched by his art, but certainly able to tinker with the feelings of anyone with with an open heart to receive it because it just happens, can not be programmed, as is our life: unpredictable but fascinating.

It's an excellent chance that the teacher must introduce students to the world of poetry by presenting them with our great poets Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Mario, Vinicius de Moraes, among others, encouraging debate and also encouraged to write their own poetry and later read to their classmates, thus exercising beyond grammar, oratory.

Among the five Academy Award nominations highlighting the posthumous nomination for best actor Massimo Troisi, who died shortly after the end of filming.

O Triunfo (The Ron Clark Story)

Escola da vida (School of Life)

The promising young lawyer Andrew Beckett (Tom Hanks) works in a big company, but his career has dramatically interrupted when it is fired soon after being promoted as a partner because they discover that he is HIV positive. He seeks attorney Joe Miller (Denzel Washington) to sue the company, after much resistance that eventually accepts defend Andrew in the courts, but also have to fight their own preconceitos.Filadélfia was one of the first films to deal with the consequences of AIDS and the intolerance of society towards people who contract the virus. Currently research into finding a cure or at least improving the quality of life of HIV-positive advanced, but the question that remains is the bias. Unfortunately the relationship between the characters of Tom Hanks and Antonio Banderas is retratadada superficially, probably reflecting the time the film was made. Another key point in this drama that deserves mention is the attitude of the former chief, who along with his team of lawyers and devastating expose the privacy of Andrew in front of everyone, in an attempt to humiliate him and beat him in court. When watching this film inevitably rethink our attitude in adverse situations, is an exercise of tolerance, making us realize how human we are, our posture and in situations that are beyond the pre-pradoi with established, and the fear of facing an illness. Deservedly awarded the Best Actor Oscar for Tom Hanks, the film also won for Best Original Song, with Streets of Philadelphia Bruce Springsteen.

Central do Brasil (Central Station)

Undoubtedly one of the most successful national film "Central Station" tells the story of Dora, a retired teacher who supplement their monthly income to write letters for illiterate people in the famous train station in Rio de Janeiro, and the boy Joshua, who after the tragic death of her mother aims to meet his father. The writing is used by Dora as a way to survive and also a small glimmer of power they still hold, but at the same time shows his selfish side to not send any of the letters he writes. The film exposes the neglect this in our society that makes us reflect on our desires for change, and especially the role of education and its reflection in the relations between individuals.

Fernanda Montenegro's acting is superb, the first Latin American actress to be nominated for an Oscar also won the Silver Bear in Berlin, among other prizes. Since the film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film, as well as winning the Golden Globe in the same category, the Golden Bear in Berlin, and many other awards at festivals around the world.

Laranja Mecânica (A Clockwork Orange)

If it were a Hollywood production "The Class" would probably have a predictable outcome, but fortunately this film is another great production of French cinema, and based on the book by Francois Bégaudeau (who plays himself in the film). Through the tense day-to-day Professor François faced with the reality that is inserted into the contemporary society, portraying all the cultural and social diversity, is directly reflected in the classroom. The situations portrayed "the walls of the school" make clear that school and work is being developed for it can be understood only when related directly to the Kafkaesque relations between classes, because the school is an institution that is actually in the service of reproduction and legitimation of the dominant classes.A movie that makes us reflect on our actions as teachers, students, but above all as citizens.Winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes 2008 and Nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film 2009.
